About Ann Caldwell
A native of Denmark, South Carolina, Ann Caldwell is a singer, songwriter, and master storyteller whose artistry is as nuanced as it is powerful. With a voice that is both earthy and transcendent, she bends time and emotion—wrapping each note in depth, rhythm, and intention. Rooted in the musical traditions of her ancestors, Ann channels a lineage where music served as communion, expression, and spiritual connection.
Never confined to a single genre, Ann’s expansive repertoire spans jazz, R&B, gospel, spirituals, and folk music. Through projects like A Lesson in Spirituals with the Magnolia Singers, she continues to honor and uplift the voices of the past while engaging audiences of all ages today.
In recognition of her extraordinary contributions to the Lowcountry’s musical legacy, Ann Caldwell was inducted into the Lowcountry Music Hall of Fame in 2018, alongside legends such as Jack McCray (co-founder of Charleston Jazz) and James Jamerson, one of the greatest and most influential bass players in modern music history.
